Vintage drag racing fans take note: The April 2007 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines (it has a yellow Hemi ’Cuda on the cover) is a must read as it contains a tribute to the dearly departed Dick Landy as well as an excellent profile of Milt Schornack of Royal Bobcat GTO fame.
The Landy piece boasts several action photos of the cigar-chomping legend at the wheel of his various Super Stock and Pro Stock Dodges, with accounts of the action by photojournalist Ron Lewis. Landy was 69 when he died January 11 of kidney failure, but will forever be remembered as one of the leading Mopar evangelists of Pro Stock’s glory days.
Schornack, 71, recently co-wrote a book, Milt Schornack and the Royal Bobcat GTOs and owns a recreation of his 1966 GTO race car.
